Yasmin Ahmad…
Politicians who have nothing in their brain but a busuk mouth tend not to die early… Decent Malaysian people who has decent dream and ideology does…
We lost Yasmin Ahmad, we lost cheesy but decent Petronas TV commercial, we lost Yasmin-style movies, we lost an arguably best filmmaker in Malaysia…
I don’t know her except through her works… and some third person accounts…
I can only say, it seems like god (if there’s any) really doesn’t think the country deserves better… He (or She? or They?) just keeps removing the decent people from the country, leaving us some… well… don’t feel like continuing…
Rest in Peace Yasmin Ahmad, Al-fatihah.
Ironically, she posted a blog entry in December, 2007, asking “Did I die and not know it”… She was referring to many film festivals holding “retrospectives” of her films…
Maybe she really was dead by then… after being attacked by so many bloody stupid conservatives in the country… after how the government itself doesn’t credit her work even though she was apparently the best…
Life is so short, so unexpected… like you never know you would one day suffer from sudden stroke, and die without able to say last word… like you never know one day you would fall from 14th floor when helping the authorities in investigation, and die without able to say last word…
EDITED update: RT @AirAsiaDotCom: RIP Yasmin Ahmad. Thank You for showing us what being a Malaysian is all about.
I love this tweet…
EDITED again: What else can Malaysian be proud on? Sigh…
