Yasmin Ahmad…

July 26, 2009 Leave a comment

Politicians who have nothing in their brain but a busuk mouth tend not to die early… Decent Malaysian people who has decent dream and ideology does…

We lost Yasmin Ahmad, we lost cheesy but decent Petronas TV commercial, we lost Yasmin-style movies, we lost an arguably best filmmaker in Malaysia…

I don’t know her except through her works… and some third person accounts…

I can only say, it seems like god (if there’s any) really doesn’t think the country deserves better… He (or She? or They?) just keeps removing the decent people from the country, leaving us some… well… don’t feel like continuing…

Rest in Peace Yasmin Ahmad, Al-fatihah.

Ironically, she posted a blog entry in December, 2007, asking “Did I die and not know it”… She was referring to many film festivals holding “retrospectives” of her films…

Maybe she really was dead by then… after being attacked by so many bloody stupid conservatives in the country… after how the government itself doesn’t credit her work even though she was apparently the best…

Life is so short, so unexpected… like you never know you would one day suffer from sudden stroke, and die without able to say last word… like you never know one day you would fall from 14th floor when helping the authorities in investigation, and die without able to say last word…

😦 😦 😦

EDITED update: RT @AirAsiaDotCom: RIP Yasmin Ahmad. Thank You for showing us what being a Malaysian is all about.

I love this tweet…

EDITED again: What else can Malaysian be proud on? Sigh…

Teoh Beng Hock…

July 25, 2009 Leave a comment

Someone said, before 16th July, googling his name returned less than 100 entries… After that fateful day, his name give hundreds of thousands of google entries…

I was in Tioman enjoying boozes, snorkellings, (only a few) Ramly burgers / Keropok, boring resort meals, DURIANS (!!!!!) and tiring intertidal surveys (but not complaining lah… :P) when he died.

It was a rather emotional afternoon, 2 days after his death, when I decided to pay RM20 for the resort’s wifi service… When reading the news feed, I was like, who the heck is Teoh Beng Hock?

Malaysia: Politician died (cruelly) under public institution’s eyes – Score 1…

Anyway, it was all history, it’s been a while since I blog… you know, sometimes you feel so sick that you don’t feel like saying or commenting anything. May he rest in peace and bless us that justice and change will one day come to the bolehland.

Oh by the way, Royal commission of enquiry to investigate the interrogation techniques of MACC and Judicial inquest for Teoh’s death? Malaysia apa pun boleh kan? I’m glad I never once thought that the BN/Najib government will change, reform, or bring justice to Teoh… NEVER! But then 65% of Malaysian believed that! Ughhh, good on them…

By the way, the mainstream media started to spin some conspiracy stories regarding his death. According to Lulu, Azmi Sharom responded those nonsense with this:

why he was resting at the MACC building. he was afraid that the DAP led by Sifu Ronnie "Slippery Frog" Liu were going to kill him. Unfortunately for him, the DAP are known to be a crack team of ninja assassins. In fact DAP stands for Devil Assassin Pact. They are more feared than the fabled Hand of Kyoto prefecture.
So, while Teoh was having nasi lemak with his protectors the MACC, a team of ninja assassins, led by Tony "Black Fist Dragon" Pua, and Teresa "Mistress of the Killer Thighs" Kok, sneaked into the building unseen. using their stealth power dressed in baju kurungs, they merged with the other staff of the MACC who were milling about at 9 am.
On the pretext of delivering kueh mueh and pisang goreng, they entered the room where teoh was. But instead of karipap, they had smoke bombs which they threw to distract everyone. Then while Gobind "The Bearded Belly of Iron" Singh, knocked out the MACC heroes with his anaconda squeeze kung fu, the other DAP ninjas struck with the flying guillotine. Unfotunately they missed and it sliced Teoh’s trousers (which is why it is torn).
Then in a final desperate bid Lim "Ancient Tortoise of Death" Kit Siang, kicked teoh with a special spinning heel backward forward high low chopping and blocking kick which threw him out the window.
That is what happened. Sumpah demi UMNO.

Ahhhh well, luckily my MP did not involve in assasinating Teoh… 😉

SMS & Emo night~

July 10, 2009 3 comments

Good night my love. Can’t tell you how much I love you. try to sleep early, sweet dream.

a. Awwwwwwwwwwwww… So sweet!!!!!

b. EEeeeeewwwwwwww…

OK, I confess that I’m kepoh, but that fella basically typing his SMS to his love one like right in front of my eyes, no choice lah~~

Oh, kudos to him for not saving a template for the good night message… 😛

I was rather emo tonight, and worse I went listening to all the cheesy emo-ish ballads… Perhaps it’s a good time to switch to something else, for now…

But seriously, this song is so fit into my mood all a sudden:

Scary looking singer, but nice rendition of this piece of ultimate cheese!

Say NO to ballad, eh?

The PCR Song

July 5, 2009 1 comment

OK, this clip was released i think 2 years ago, but I only managed to dig it out yesterday… Hilariously awesome*10!!!!

The clip is meant to mimic the song “We are the world” (music arrangement & music video! 😀 ), which I happened to watch it few hours before I watch this PCR clip… The song “We are the world” contains MJ, you know what I was doing… LOL

Anyway, PCR stands for Polymerase Chain Reaction… It was a ground breaking technique in molecular biology, which won the inventor of the technique a nobel prize! Basically, when you need a large amount of a stretch of DNA, you definitely need to know PCR! And the lyrics of the PCR Song explains it:

There was a time when to amplify DNA,
You had to grow tons and tons of tiny cells.
(Oooh) Then along came a guy named Dr. Kary Mullis,
Said you can amplify in vitro just as well.

Just mix your template with a buffer and some primers,
Nucleotides and polymerases too.
Denaturing, annealing, and extending,
Well it’s amazing what heating and cooling and heating will do.

[Chorus]
PCR when you need to detect mutation (detect mutation)
PCR when you need to recombine (recombine)
PCR when you need to find out who the daddy is (who’s your daddy?)
PCR when you need to solve a crime (solve a crime)
[x2]

(Copied from http://practicality.wordpress.com/2008/01/13/the-pcr-song-with-lyrics/)

They say in the old days, doing PCR means shaking your reaction tubes in a hot water bath for say few minutes, and a cold water bath for few minutes… and repeating them for N times… (N here means a lot lah, I’m no molecular biologist… 😛 )

And nowadays, with a machine as seen in the video, you can do PCR by a few buttons!  😀

Smack/Smash into you

July 4, 2009 1 comment

Kick arse editing! So a guy called Jon McLaughlin has a single called “Smack into you”. Beyonce then picked the song and released a single called “Smash into you”. Then someone else took the 2 versions, and combined them into one… So good!!!!

Am totally in cheesy ballad mode recently… I mean, come on, MJ’s songs are cheesy anyway… :P  And usually you’ll need a break after listening a whole day of MJ right?

Oh by the way, that farking 98.7fm was making fun with MJ’s “Heal the world” (I know it’s cheesy), you know, change the lyrics, whatever chicken curry whatever shit which is TOTALLY NOT FUN! Spoilt my gym-ing mode aje

Don’t ask don’t tell

July 4, 2009 2 comments

Eh… I’m not referring to the US military policy which raises a few eyebrows recently…

I’m just trapped into a vicious cycle. A cycle incurred by not telling truth, but not telling lie either, i.e. silent and concealment. It is just concealment, prevent detection, not faking or pretending… OK, pardon me I just started writing my thesis introduction, which I’m required to define terms like “crypsis” (prevent detection) and “masquerade” (pretending to be something else) 😛

First you don’t tell people about the truth. People henceforth thought the “truth” is by default so and so (which is wrong lah), and then people’s thought and perception get deeper and deeper because you don’t tell the truth. And of course it is harder for you to tell the truth because the impact of reality is getting greater and greater, the barrier grows bigger and bigger!

2 things to blame:

1. People always has a “by default” type of perception, like you are human (:P) unless you said otherwise… hmmmm…

2. Things are perhaps easier when you declare outright about the truth!

I always got this attitude, if people don’t ask me about it, I won’t tell, and I won’t make any effort to tell… but recently it seems things are getting worse! Maybe I should be a good boy and always tell the truth… =.=

Hmmm anyway, I must be too deep inside the camouflage studies, how come this entry looks so camouflaged/cryptic… =.=

NS

July 2, 2009 1 comment

So everyone has been using NS to refer to National Service…

Oh well, some one with his hare mind proposed that teen should enter a 3-month-program called “Khidmat Negara” to make Malaysian more patriotic. Since Singapore has a more elaborate version of “National service”, and “Khidmat Negara” basically means “National Service” anyway (what am I talking?), everyone hence equating the dodgy “Khidmat Negara” program as NS…

But wait, NS is and was, strictly speaking, well associated with people in Negeri Sembilan! and NS is a freaking state of Malaysia! Like people won’t really use KL to refer to Kuai Lan or SG to refer to ShotGun right?

Nah, seems like we are just getting too in love with abbreviation~

Pardon me, I’m just feeling a little bit too… empty? or shall I say weird? So I decided to write something utterly stupid… 😛
